The EASD Congress
The EASD is the European Congress for Diabetes ( European Association for the Study of Diabetes). It takes place every year in September in a European city. This year, Lisbon, Portugal has welcomed doctors, nurses, researchers, companies related to diabetes diabetic patients! I really love this initiative to connect people who live with diabetes.
I have been every year since 2011 to the EASD congress, but this year was my 1st #DiabetesMeetUp .
Organized by Roche Diabetes Europe, this #DiabetesMeetUp event brought together sixty bloggers, all with type 1 diabetes, mainly from Europe. It was a great opportunity to meet our peers, exchange and share about Diabetes.
I did have the opportunity to present our World Diabetes Tour programs, as # T1D Challenge and #AdventureTeam at the #docday organized by Bastian, a German DT1.
The Senseonics Eversense Sensor
Following the ATTD 2017 congress (international congres on new technologies related to diabetes), I shared some news about Eversense from Senseonics, an implanted glucose sensor (distributed by Roche Diabetes). To date, it lasts 90 days; but the 180 days version has just received the CE marking which is a very good news for us. We may be able to test it soon !
Some german people were wearing it and this sensor sounds really nice !
Managing our diet, and especially carbohydrates, is part of our diabetic life. Every day, one of our challenges is to know exactly how many carbs are hiding in our meal in front of us. With experience, we learn. Sometimes we succed. Sometimes not...
At #DiabetesMeetUp meeting, the #GoCarb project was presented. The idea is simple: we take a picture of our dish, and the #GoCarb app gives us how many carbs are in our plate. Magic !!! A short demo has been made ; I am looking forward to testing it in the real Life.

Roche acquired last June the application MySugr. The #DiabetesMeetUp was the opportunity to talk and get more news about the #MySugr coach, an help in diabetes management (messages and advices based on our blood sugar). Like many apps, we should test it in real life conditions, and get our own idea! Do not hesitate to give us your feedback.
Kaleido Insulin Pump
Very nice discovery in the world of insulin pumps: the Kaleido. Small, light, colorful, design, customizable ... I liked it very much! Kaleido insulin pump is expected to be launched shortly in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Insulin Ultra Rapid
These are called URIs (Ultra Rapid Insulin) . In this family, there is the NovoNordisk Fiasp® and the BioChaperone® Lispro from Adocia (a French company based in Lyon). These insulins are even faster than the ones we know today (NovoRapid from NovoNordisk, Apidra from Sanofi and Humalog from E. Lili). They will have a real beneficial impact in the use of insulin pumps.
In June 2017, Adocia initiated a clinical study comparing high-dose insulin BioChaperone® Lispro U100 with Fiasp® and Novolog® , administered by an insulin pump. The results should be known by the end of the year. For more information, I invite you to read this page of the Adocia website.
Feel free to contact us firstname.lastname@example.org to share your feedbacks, get info on our #T1DChallenge and #AdventureTeam programs.
